Basic 3D Shapes

Cube

Cube is a geometrical object bounded by six square faces, with three meeting at each vertex.

Cube has 6 faces, 12 edges, and 8 vertices.

For a cube with side length a :
Volume is a³.
Area of each face is a².
Surface area is 6a².

Rectangular Cuboid

Rectangular cuboid is a cuboid which all angles are right angles, and opposite faces of a cuboid are equal.

Rectangular cuboid has 6 faces, 12 edges, and 8 vertices.

For a cube with side length a, b, and c :
Volume is abc.
Surface area is 2(ab+ac+bc).

Pyramid

Pyramid is a geometrical object with the base of a polygon along with three or more triangle-shaped faces that meet at a point above the base.

For a n-gon pyramid, it has n+1 faces, 2n edges, and n+1 vertices.

For a pyramid with base area a and height h :
Volume is ah.
Surface area is sum of all faces area.

Prism

Prism is a geometrical object whose two ends are equal and parallel, and other sides are parallelograms.

For a n-gon prism, it has n+2 faces, 3n edges, and 2n vertices.

For a prism with base area a, perimeter area p, and height h :
Volume is ah.
Surface area is ph (Only for right prism).

Sphere

Sphere is a geometrical object that is a three-dimensional analogue to a two-dimensional circle.

For a sphere with radius r :
Volume is (4/3)πr³.
Surface area is 4πr².
